Empowering people with knowledge

ISHI promotes, encourages and assists the study of Histocompatibility, Immunogenetics and Transplant Immunology.

Meet-ups and Conferences

ISHI conducts regular workshops for the post graduates and young faculties from medicine and allied fields to enhance and orient them to methods and principles of HLA testing and evidence based research.

About ISHI : Patient care is our first priority

Who are we?

We are a not-for-profit association of clinical and research professionals including immunologists, geneticists, molecular biologists, transplant physicians and surgeons, pathologists and technologists.

What do we do?

ISHI is dedicated to advancing the science and application of histocompatibility and immunogenetics; providing a forum for the exchange of information; and advocating the highest standards of laboratory testing in the interest of optimal patient care.

Focus Area

We focus on Identification of Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA), their genes and other genetic systems commonly studied in connection with the HLA system.

Our Expertise

We constantly come up with the latest techniques and scientific advances in our domain. Our knowledge and skills are utilized by transplant surgeons, transplant physicians, transplant coordinators, and organ procurement coordinators as part of a team effort.

Network with us

ISHI believes in the power of associations around the globe and the impact we can have on society. We strive to develop strong relations with similar organisations. In essence, we aim to bring together everyone involved in histocompatibility and immunogenetics to form a strong and well connected network to be able to interact, discuss and arrive at consensus on best practices.

Histocompatibility

The state in which a donor and recipient share antigens so that a graft is accepted and remains functional.

Immunogenetics

is the study of immunity to disease and the relationship to genetic make-up.

HLA

Histocompatibility antigens in humans are called HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigens). The most important ones for transplantation are HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-DR

Histocompatibility antigens

are the proteins on the surface of the cells in the body. Their main function is to help the immune system defend against invaders such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

Histocompatibility testing

Histocompatibility testing is the performance of assays to determine whether recipient and donor are histocompatible.

HLA related events
